Risk Assessment

A risk assessment is often requested by courts, child protection agencies or other institutions wanting to understand the risk an individual poses to engage in a particular behaviour. This often relates to the risk someone poses to be re-arrested for a crime or the risk someone poses to engage in harm to a particular child. 

Guidepoint Clinic Associates specialize in comprehensive assessment for risk for sexual re-offence as well as risk to engage in sexual offence involving a specific child (often requested by child protection).

Each risk assessment is tailored to the referral question but will generally involve; one to two meetings with the client (totaling 5-8 hours), a review of documentation, client completion of assessment measures, and the scoring of relevant risk measures by the clinician. 

Documentation required from the referral source or client (when available or relevant): official criminal record, police records and/or official documentation of prior charges/convictions, correctional records, previous psychological/psychiatric assessments, documentation from CAS, school transcript, and a letter of employment (from current employer, detailing length and type of employment).
