Dr. Pauls provides therapeutic services to a diverse range of adult clients, with or without legal involvement. He has extensive experience working with individuals facing challenges related to intimate partner violence, sexual offences, and both violent and non-violent offences. His practice also includes helping clients manage a wide variety of general mental health concerns. These include anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and interpersonal difficulties. Dr. Pauls offers a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their experiences and work toward emotional well-being.

In addition, Dr. Pauls specializes in anger management, offering tailored strategies to manage and reduce problematic anger. He has extensive experience in substance use treatment, supporting individuals in achieving goals such as harm reduction or complete abstinence. He also provides compassionate support to individuals with gambling or gaming concerns as well as those with atypical sexual preferences.

Dr. Pauls earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 2005. He became registered as a Forensic and Clinical Psychologist in Ontario in 2007. In 2022, he expanded his professional credentials, obtaining licensure as a Psychologist with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Pauls has devoted his career to working primarily with adults in conflict with the law. He has held roles with the Correctional Service of Canada, the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). His work has focused on psycho-diagnostic evaluations, risk assessments, and treatment planning for individuals with severe mental illnesses and addictions. This includes those found Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) for their offences. Dr. Pauls currently works for Newfoundland Health Services, Western Region.

As a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (ATSA), Dr. Pauls has provided both treatment and risk assessment services for individuals who have committed sexual offences and those seeking preventive interventions. He employs evidence-based approaches in his practice, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Structured Relapse Prevention, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Harm Reduction strategies.

Dr. Pauls’ dedication to his field is reflected in his ability to blend clinical expertise with a compassionate and client-centered approach, helping individuals navigate complex challenges and achieve meaningful change—whether related to legal issues, addictions, or more general emotional and psychological concerns.
