Is a Psychological Assessment For You?

Understanding your mental health is the first step toward effective treatment and support. A psychological assessment can help identify the underlying causes of emotional, behavioural, or cognitive challenges and provide a roadmap for what comes next. You might benefit from an assessment if you’re experiencing:

Unclear Symptoms

You’ve struggled with attention, mood, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health concerns and want a clear explanation of what’s going on.

Treatment Roadblocks

Previous therapy or medication hasn’t worked as expected, and you need deeper insight to guide next steps.

Impact on Daily Life

Challenges with work, relationships, school, or emotional regulation are interfering with how you live and function day-to-day.

Documentation Needs

You require formal psychological documentation for accommodations, legal purposes, disability applications, or coordainated care with other professionals.

What Conditions Can Be Diagnosed?

Our focus is on evaluating and diagnosing conditions such as:

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Personality Disorders
  • Trauma-Related Concerns
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • Schizophrenia/Psychosis-related Disorders

We do not currently conduct assessments of intellectual functioning, learning disabilities, or autism spectrum disorder.

Accurate assessment is the cornerstone of effective treatment. A psychological assessment is much more than filling out a checklist – it involves in-depth clinical interviews, standardized testing, and careful interpretation by a licensed professional.

In Ontario, the act of communicating a mental health diagnosis is considered a controlled act under provincial law. This means that only certain regulated professionals, such as psychologists, are legally authorized to provide a formal diagnosis. Choosing the right professional ensures you receive an assessment that is valid, clinically sound, and legally recognized.
