Dr. J. Christine Rose

PhD, CPsych
Clinical & Forensic Psychologist

* Approved provider for: Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)

Dr. Christine Rose provides evidence-based assessment and therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns, with a focus on supporting individuals involved in the justice system. She has experience working with challenges related to intimate partner violence as well as both violent and non-violent offences. Beyond her forensic work, she has supported clients living with personality disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, substance use concerns, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders.

Dr. Rose has a special interest in helping individuals who tend to be emotionally overcontrolled and are seeking greater flexibility, emotional expression, and deeper connection in their relationships. In therapy, she brings a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, creating a collaborative environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Her integrative style draws from Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She is also trained in evidence-based trauma therapies such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

In addition to therapy, Dr. Rose offers comprehensive psychological assessment services, including both diagnostic and forensic assessments. Diagnostic assessments can be a powerful first step in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. They clarify the factors that may be contributing to current challenges and highlight personal strengths, offering a clear path forward. This insight not only helps make sense of past and present experiences but also guides treatment planning so that care is tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Drawing on more than 15 years of specialized training and experience in forensic and correctional psychology, Dr. Rose also conducts evidence-based risk assessments for individuals charged with or convicted of criminal offences. Her assessments are thorough, balanced, and person-centred—helping both clients and decision-makers understand what has contributed to someone’s current situation, and what steps can be taken to reduce or manage future risk. She also assists lawyers by reviewing and critiquing expert reports, identifying strengths and limitations in existing evaluations, and offering evidence-based input on the psychological aspects of legal cases.
